The Tories are bent on creating a new class of super-exploited immigrant
labour. Just like the United States' racist and exploitative Bracero
Programs of the 1950s-60s, Immigration Minister Kenney is proposing new
Temporary Foreign Worker program regulations that will only benefit
employers. Migrant workers are being forced out and denied the chance to
gain the rights of citizens or permanent residents. We call on all
people, migrants, trade unionists, students and poor people to resist!
For years, they have been telling us no money exists for decent wages,
proper housing, childcare, education or health care and, certainly, no
money to ensure that poor people on assistance can pay the rent and eat

In May 2007, Toronto's parents, teachers, students and community
organizers won the right for non-status children to enter TDSB schools.
This makes Toronto the only city in the country where non-status children
can study.
Sounds great, right?
Except, most teachers, staff or students haven't heard about the policy
Except, migrant communities have not been informed
Except, Peel and Catholic District School Board still bar students Except, graduating students are unable to get post-secondary education
We won. But the struggle continues.
We want an Education. Stop the Deportations.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Every year, tens of thousands of women and trans-people travel across borders and check-points, empty their savings and make the difficult journey to Canada, leaving behind homes, families and sometimes children in search of safety. For economic security. For refuge. Often entering a system of temporary, exploitative work. Live-In Care-Givers and other migrant workers are being treated like disposable commodities by Canada. Women fighting back against violence are being denied status. Working for years. Unable to bring their families. Unable to unionize.
Enraged by this treatment and inspired by the victories of the DADT campaign in Toronto schools, the Women's Movement has risen up to demand Status for All. Shelters have opened their doors further to non-status women. Rape/Trauma Crisis Centres, Group Counseling Homes, Anti-VAW Shelters, Agencies and Community Organizations have organized to provide basic and essential support services to survivors of violence while mobilizing and advocating for a full regularization program.
