10 September 2011
11:45am: Meet at Queen & Dufferin in Parkdale
12noon: Join us at Dufferin Grove Park

Since before Rob Ford lied his way into City Hall, undocumented people and migrant workers have been shut out from basic community services in Toronto. We've had to fight for access to schools and shelter, and still cannot get public housing, decent health care, social services, and often, something as basic as a library card. For years, No One Is Illegal - Toronto has fought to expand services, worked to push immigration enforcement out of our city, and dismantled the borders that shut our communities out of social services so that undocumented people and migrant workers can live with dignity and respect. Now Ford wants to reduce services even further. We cannot allow this to happen.

No One Is Illegal - Toronto and The Stop Community Food Centre presents:

No Rights, No Food: Connecting the dots between urban hunger and the
struggles of migrant farm workers

What does hunger in Toronto have to do with the working conditions of
migrant workers and farmers?

As our communities of documented and undocumented people struggle with
hunger because of urban food deserts, rising inequality and simply not
having enough money to buy food; migrant workers are having their wages stolen by employers, having their rights and protections stripped from them, and are under immediate threat from criminalizing immigration policy, such as Federal Bill C-4.

Please join us for an evening of food, presentation and conversation!

When: September 27th , 2011
Time: 6:00 - 8:30pm

We didn't cross the borders, the borders crossed us!

The bodies of Indigenous people, queer people, migrants, people of colour and the poor have been exploited, governed, labelled and regulated by the Canadian and US states. The state has tried to interfere in our communities, our languages, our families, our love relationships and our ability to seek refuge. But we have seen that if we resist, we can win! No One Is Illegal-Toronto, along with our friends at Queers Against Israeli Apartheid call on queers, trans folks, two-spirted people, people of colour, migrants, workers, students, radicals, and allies to join us for an evening of discussion, reflection and celebration.
