This first workshop will provide an introduction for service providers, front-line workers, and interested community members to the Shelter.Sanctuary.Status campaign.

The Shelter.Sanctuary.Status campaign is working towards access to services and the provision of full legal immigration status for all women
fleeing diverse forms of violence and their families. An integral part of
this campaign is working with service providers in the violence against
women sector, including shelters, drop-ins, community health centres and
settlement services.

In particular, we will discuss:
*Our recommended policy to ensure safety and security for all women
accessing services, regardless of their immigration status;
*How to adapt this policy to meet the needs of your agency/organization/shelter as well as promote accessibility for clients who may not have full legal immigration status;
*How to advocate for and implement this policy in your workplace;
*Successful 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policies at local community organizations and in U.S. cities;
*Next steps for the Shelter.Sanctuary.Status campaign.

A question and answer period will follow.

All welcome!

Please RSVP to Jean McDonald at by November 20th to
confirm your attendance.
