Immigrants: Know Your Rights | St. Jamestown Movie Screening and Workshop

Jan/29/2015 - 5:00 pm
Jan/29/2015 - 8:00 pm

MIGRANTS: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS is a 24 minute public education film made by No One Is Illegal-Toronto, in collaboration with the Immigration Legal Committee of the Law Union of Ontario.

Made for immigrants without full immigration status, this film and the corresponding legal guide (see below) are your resource to protecting yourself and those you love from immigration arrest and detention at home, in the street and at work.

After launching the film online in October 2014 (with subtitles in French & Spanish), we are working with community organizations to do neighbourhood launches across Toronto. These launches feature a fun theatre-based interactive legal workshop by members of the Immigration Legal Committee (ILC) and Collaborative Legal Play (CLAY). This is a great opportunity to come together with your neighbours, learn your legal rights (and their limits), and assert collective power!

Join us for our first community screening and workshop in St.Jamestown on Thursday, January 29 at St.JamesTown Community Corner (200 Wellesley Street East) from 5pm to 8pm. This event is made possible by our community partners St. James Town Community Cafe and Low Income Families Together.
